Cultural Bridges in Germany

About the Program

About

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy created the program “Cultural Bridges in Germany” to strengthen relations between Germany’s cultural communities, exploring the benefits of a multi-cultural society, and analyzing Germany’s increasing role as a regional and global power.

In order to pursue these goals, the program works to bring together individuals of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds from across Germany and beyond. Through weeklong seminars and academic conferences, stakeholders can discuss salient economic, political, and cultural issues and become part of a sustainable network of likeminded individuals.

Program Aims

The Cultural Bridges in Germany program will pursue the following specific aims:

  • To raise awareness of, and strengthen relations between, the diverse cultural communities within Germany
  • To draw attention to Germany’s rich cultural and philosophical heritage and its global influence
  • To increase the use of art, music, and sport as a medium for intercultural exchange programs at the national and international levels
  • To strengthen Germany’s economic, political, and cultural relations with other countries
  • To highlight Germany’s role as a regional and global leader

Program Activity

The ICD program “Cultural Bridges in Germany” organizes the following activity:

Young Leader´s Forums

The ICD Young Leader´s Forums are international networks of like-minded young individuals with an interest in developing, supporting and sustaining intercultural relations. The first Young Leaders Forum was developed in 2003 and we have since developed and launched a variety of different bilateral and multilateral forums that focus on a diverse range of relationships across the world. Over the past decade the ICD Young Leaders Forum has grown to become one of Europe’s largest independent cultural exchange organizations, hosting programs that facilitate interaction among young individuals of all cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds, from across the world.

Conferences, Lectures & Public Discussions

The program organizes a number of international conferences, which take place throughout the year. The international conferences provide an opportunity for larger audiences to actively participate and engage in lectures, debates, and discussions featuring high profile figures from the fields of international politics, diplomacy, culture, academia, and the private sector. The events have an inclusive participation policy and are open to individuals from all academic, cultural, and professional backgrounds.

Research & Analysis

As an organization working to strengthen intercultural relations, the ICD will conduct and publish relevant academic research into the aims outlined above. This research is conducted by the ICD staff and Advisory Board, members of our international network, as well as other key program stakeholders. All research material is presented at our events.
