The Future of US Foreign Policy

The Political, Economic, & Cultural Dimensions

(International Conference; November 7th - 10th, 2016)

Introduction

“The Future of US Foreign Policy” is an international conference held by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in association with high-profile international partners. The event brings together key stakeholders from the US, Europe, and across the world to reflect on the future of US foreign policy and related issues, with a particular focus on the transatlantic relationship. The conference consists of lectures, panel discussions, and debates featuring renowned experts from international politics, diplomacy, and academia. In addition to the academic components, cultural and social activities provide an opportunity for the participants to discuss with the speakers and expand their personal networks.

In light of the forthcoming US presidential elections, the 2016 conference will focus on the theme “The Roles and Responsibilities of the US and Europe in the Free World”. The theme was selected in recognition of two significant developments in the field of international relations. Firstly: The global deterioration of international relations and secondly the emergence of new global challenges such as financial instability, terrorism, climate change and the prevention of health pandemics, which are all areas of activity that require the international community to build sustainable and multilateral approaches.

In recognition of these developments, there is a demonstrable need to analyze and reflect on the activity of the US and Europe within this new context and in addressing these new challenges.
